Happy Birthday from Sesame Street!
Have a great birthday party for your toddler with all of the Sesame Street characters. Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Grouch, Bert, Ernie and all their friends. Below you will find decorating ideas for your room and table, activity and game suggestions and party food ideas for toddlers.
Sesame Street Party Decorating Ideas:
Balloons and streamers...the basic decorating stand-bys...are always an inexpensive and easy way to turn any room into a festive birthday party. Attach streamers from center of ceiling to each corner of the room. Use two colors and twist streams for effect. Or...attach streamers from doorways or down walls. Use plenty of primary color balloons for a Sesame Street birthday party. Tie in bunches of 3 around room and/or attach one balloon to the back of each chair at the table. Use extra balloons on the "birthday" chair. Give each child a balloon to take home after the party. Put up a birthday banner on the wall. A Sesame Street pinata can be used as a decoration and as a game later. If your child already has some Sesame Street character toys or stuffed animals, set those around the room.
*As an added decoration, buy a new metal trash can to represent Oscar the Grouch's home. Use it to store the birthday gifts!
Decorate your table with Sesame Street or Elmo paper goods for easy clean up. Add plates or napkins in solid primary colors if desired. Scatter some ABC blocks around on table. Have a Sesame Street theme party hat and favor bag for each child.
Sesame Street Party Activities
1. Sesame Street Pinata -
Small children may need some help with this.
2. Get Tickled
- Play a kids song or better yet...the Sesame Street Song. Have players sit in a circle and pass a stuffed or plastic Elmo until the music stops. The player left holding Elmo when the music stops is out, and gets tickled. Keep passing Elmo until only one player is left.
- Give each child a bottle of bubbles. Kids love them! This is best done outside.
4. Pin the Tail on the Donkey
- An old favorite at every birthday party.
Sesame Street Party Food Ideas
Cookie Monster Loves Food!
Serve finger foods that are easy and fun for small children and keep it simple. Cut sandwiches or cheese into alphabet shapes with cookie cutters or into circles, squares, rectangles and triangles. A fun idea that children love is peanut butter and jelly on party rolls. These are just kid sized! Add some small snacks like cheese bits, animal crackers and (of course) mini chocolate chip cookies. Serve on Sesame Street theme paper products featuring all their favorite characters.
The Birthday Cake!
Make your own Elmo cake using an
Elmo Cake Pan (if you have the time and talent)...or use a Sesame Street Cake Kit or Cupcake Picks...which are very easy. Last resort...order a theme cake from your local bakery or grocery store. BE SURE TO ORDER EARLY!
DON'T FORGET TO TAKE PLENTY OF PICTURES!
Have a GREAT Sesame Street Birthday Party!
